Single Tooth Replacement

A Precise and Personalized Approach

Replacing a single missing tooth begins with a thorough evaluation and a discussion of your treatment options. At your consultation, we will perform a clinical exam, review diagnostic imaging, and consider your health history to create a customized surgical plan tailored to your needs and goals.

Delayed Implant Placement

In some cases, the implant may be placed several months after tooth removal. This delayed approach often includes grafting the site to preserve bone and prepare the area for future implant placement. During this healing period, a temporary tooth replacement may be provided for comfort and aesthetics.

Before the implant is placed, additional imaging or 3D scanning is typically done to assess healing, determine if further grafting is needed, and fabricate custom surgical guides to ensure precision placement. After the implant is placed, another healing period of three months or more is needed before it is ready for the final crown.

Immediate Implant Placement

In many cases, an implant can be placed at the same time as the tooth extraction. This allows for grafting and implant healing to occur simultaneously, which may reduce treatment time by half compared to a delayed approach. Immediate placement can also help preserve gum contours and bone structure for a more natural appearance.

However, this option is not always possible. Active infection, significant bone loss, or certain medical conditions may require a delayed placement for the best long-term outcome.

Anesthesia Options Available for Surgery

Local Anesthesia

Patients who have undergone fillings or other minor dental procedures may have previous experience with local anesthesia. Local anesthesia is a numbing medication that is injected directly around the area to be treated.

IV Sedation

IV sedation allows patients to enter a deeply relaxed, sleep-like state during a procedure. It is commonly used for more complex surgical treatments or for individuals with significant dental anxiety.

General Anesthesia

Some people are best managed in a hospital or surgery center. This may be due to the complexity of the surgery, health of the patient, or in cases of severe anxiety, emotional immaturity, or developmental delay.
